1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Merit ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Merit is a strength training analytics app for iOS. It lets you log workouts, computes training analytics such as estimated one-rep maxes and progression trends, and ranks your lifts against published strength standards. The App works without an account; your data is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud database (see our Privacy Policy).

3. Not Medical or Coaching Advice

Merit provides informational analytics about your own training history. It does not provide medical advice, prescribe training programs, or supervise your exercise. Strength standards and estimated maxes are statistical estimates, not statements about what is safe for you to lift. Consult a physician before beginning or changing an exercise program, and use appropriate safety measures when training. You train at your own risk.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

Core features of the App, including logging, ranks, and your training history, are free. Merit Pro is an optional paid upgrade, offered as an auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, that unlocks additional analytics features.

All payments are processed by Apple through your App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; you can manage or cancel them in your App Store settings at any time. If you cancel, Pro features stop at the end of the paid period, but your training data, history, and everything you earned in the App remain yours.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Upload malicious code or interfere with the App's operation
• Reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the App or its bundled data

6. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, design, and code within Merit is owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App without prior written permission.

7. Your Data

You own the training data you enter into the App. It is stored on your device and in your private iCloud database, not on servers we operate, and you can export it as CSV or delete it at any time. We claim no license over it.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its analytics, estimates, and rankings are accurate or fit for any particular purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including any injury sustained while training.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to discontinue the App or any of its features at any time. Because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, discontinuation of the App does not delete your data. You can stop using the App at any time by deleting it.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.
